(04/24/26) BATON ROUGE, La. — The Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library, 9200 Bluebonnet Blvd., will be the site of the next series presented by the East Baton Rouge Master Gardeners. On Thursday, May 28, they will present on two topics, Growing Medium and Soils, and Bees.

Advanced Master Gardener Kerry Hawkins knows the success of a garden depends on the stuff in which plants are planted. What is the difference between soils? Which will suit your needs best? Is the most expensive one always the best?

Next, Master Gardener Debi O’Neill has learned a lot about bees and would love to share that knowledge. Bees are crucial to our environment, because they are a primary pollinator for many plants.

Even if you do not plan on starting hives in your yard, there are many ways to help support the bee population in Baton Rouge. Come learn how you can be more bee friendly.

The programs begin at 6:30 p.m. They are free and open to the public.
